Bear's Department Store Tee
In 1888, Charles H. Bear Sr. opened a dry goods store on the northwest corner of Continental Square in downtown York, Pa. It grew into a four-story department store that remained on the site until its closing in 1977, when it was part of the Zollingers chain from Allentown. In the 1950s, Bear’s renowned cafeteria was the setting for a weekly local radio show, “Breakfast at Bear’s.”
