From the 1890s until 1951, Graupner’s Brewery was a fixture at Market and Tenth streets in downtown Harrisburg, Pa. Graupner’s Silver Stock Lager Beer and X-Tra Fine Beer, according to a company newspaper ad in 1933, “are known from coast-to-coast as those ‘famous Harrisburg beers!” An ad in 1935 touted Harrisburg’s water as “beyond doubt very similar to that of the famous brewing waters of Europe.”
