At Stay, shopping is fun again, excellent customer service is back

A vintage gumball machine greets customers at our store.

On a Sunday, I posted a photo of our vintage gumball machine as an Instagram story with the caption: Shopping is fun again!

Late on Monday afternoon, Susan from the Hershey History Center, where our store is, texted me that a woman looking for Stay’s Hershey Football Training Camp Tee in a size large.

I was working from home — our store is open Thursday through Sunday — but I told Susan that I’d be happy to swing by and open the store for the woman.

Being only a mile and a half away, I was there in no time. The woman, who recently moved to the area from Delaware to be near her son and granddaughters, bought the tee and two coin pouches. The tee is heading back to France with its recipient.

An out-of-the-blue sale of nearly $50 means something to us.

And making shopping fun and delivering excellent customer service mean even more.

We’ve been at this since 2017, selling online and participating in hundreds of pop-up markets. But our store is just two months old, and growing it is going to be our biggest challenge yet. We take nothing for granted.

Hang out

With the great support of the history center, and the time to plan the design and layout, we created something that I hope makes people feel as comfortable as they would wearing a favorite tee or sweatshirt.

A maker friend described it best when she visited the store on our first day.

“I just want to hang out in here,” she said.

That’s the vibe we’re going for. Take your time. Unfold and open as many shirts as you like if you want a closer look. Let us know if you have a special request.

We’re open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday (and 24/7 at stayapparel.com).

But if you need something off hours or on short notice, we’ll do our best to meet you at the store and accommodate your need. You can reach us at hello@stayapparel.com.

We are here to make shopping fun again and to deliver excellent customer service every time.

No matter the time or day.
